I met Gary and Pauline in a cafe near Notting Hill one beautiful spring Sunday morning. I love London in the Spring when all the blossom trees are in full bloom and the mist is gently rising. Gary and Pauline were absolutely lovely and told me all about how their wedding plans have changed a few times over the months and now they had come to a final decision to have their actual wedding at Islington Town Hall with four close friends as witnesses a week before their planned wedding blessing which was to be held at Herons Farm in September. Pauline’s father is a Minister and would be conducting the blessing at Herons Farm in Pangbourne, Hampshire. It all sounded so exciting – I loved the idea of a secret wedding too – so romantic…..On the day of the “secret wedding” I met Pauline at Gordon Ramsey’s The York and Albany Hotel located between tranquil Regent’s Park and lively Camden where she was getting ready with two of her girlfriends. Pauline was extremely calm and organised and had brought a couple of dresses along and a couple of pairs of shoes as she couldnt decided on which one to wear. After a little fashion show she finally decided on a beautiful floral dress with Vivienne Westwood heart shoes and a bright pink netting shirt underneath – she looked very 50’s vintage chic. The taxi arrived and we all headed over to meet the boys at Islington Town Hall. The nerves were starting to set in so Pauline and her friends burst into song and fits of giggles.
On arrival at Islington Town Hall Pauline and the girls headed in to meet the boys upstairs. Gary was extremely nervous as he met Pauline at the top of the staircase and headed into have a formal chat with the Registar before the offical service started. Once the formalities were done the guests could enter and the service started – Pauline and Gary suddenly got a case of the giggles which was very sweet but managed to hold it together to say their vows and seal their marriage with a fabulous kiss…..
After the service they headed off to celebrate with champagne at the Lucky Voice Bar bar opposite Islington Town Hall. Pauline is a wonderful singer and the bar has Karrioke suites downstairs where they headed off to enjoy a few more drinks and belt out a few tunes….. It was such a fun, exciting and happy afternoon – I cant wait for the second wedding next week….
