I was delighted to be asked to second shoot for Kate Hopewell-Smith at the wedding of Laurent & Sarah at Aynehoe House in the Cotswolds. Kate is an amazing photographer and someone who I admire greatly so I was really looking forward to working with her. Aynhoe Park is a private house that can be hired out exclusively for functions and it is set in the most glorious English countryside in the edge of the Cotswolds.
The weather in December can be unpredictible at the best of times but luckily when Kate and I arrived early on the 6th December at Aynhoe Park it was brilliant blue skies and sharp fresh air. I have not been to this venue before so for me it was a real treat as the house is filled with such unusual props and accessories – it was a real feast for the eyes.The banqueting tables were being dressed as we arrived and the rooms were filled with hundreds of stunning pink roses – it was so beautiful. We headed upstairs to meet Sarah and her family who were all busy getting ready, doing their hair and make up while Laurent and his Best Man were in another room opposite busy getting ready while chatting with his friends. It all felt so relaxed and Sarah was so excited to be marrying Laurent she just beamed from ear to ear all morning.
As the guest arrived they were greeted to drinks in the main entrance before walking to the Orangery for the Civil Service. Sarah entered the room with her very proud mother, the sun was just going down creating the most stunning sun set and evening glow outside. The room was lit with candles and a string quartet played as she entered and throughout the service which was so romantic.
After the service the guests headed into the banquet rooms and Laurent, Sarah, her sister and the Best Man all delivered heart felt speeches. All the families seemed so close and so thrilled for Laurent and Sarah it was a very emotional evening and a real pleasure and honour to be a part of.
